Kurumba Maldives has hosted a number of activities for guests and team members to celebrate World Oceans Day.
Complimentary snorkelling safari and lagoon cleaning in conjunction with clean-up dive activities took place with the participation of those who wished to take part in lagoon and house-reef clean-up activities. Inspired by the theme of this year’s event, ‘preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean’, the clean-up activity aimed to raise awareness about the danger of plastics to marine life.
Children were also encouraged to engage in this event and show their appreciation to the ocean in a fun art competition organised at the Kids’ Club.
The celebration ended with a marine life presentation which allowed ocean lovers to learn more about the inhabitants of the ocean — home to a diverse range of marine life.
World Oceans Day is marked every year on June 8 as a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. Numerous events and activities are held around the world, bringing people together to celebrate and honour the ocean.
