This is something that I am still working on fully embracing. I’m getting there.
Not long ago I was in a demanding corporate job, I was working around the clock and addicted to my work email.
I had two phones and my work phone was attached to my hand. I worked from home often so that meant @lemonbearthehabibi was my co-worker ?
I remember whenever she would hear the ringtone I had on my work phone, she would poke her head up all frantically looking for my phone. Because it was what I would do too ?
Since I no longer have my work phone, that ringtone is long gone in our lives. But she actually still does the same thing when she hears that exact ringtone in public. My baby is traumatized! ?
What I’m getting here is, I did not create the time for me to rest. & I saw that manifest into physical things through my quality of sleep, weight gain, my overall attitude, & my success just to name a few.
Rest was not a part of my life, except during savasana in yoga ??♀️?
& I see this in a lot of my clients too.
One was so busy managing her employees & her leaders in her corporate job, she barely had time to manage her own business that she wants to transition to full-time. Not only that, she’s a mother of 2 young children that require xtra attention.
Another client was working 10+ hours a day on scaling her business to reach a monthly revenue goal to the point where she was reaching burnout. & her boyfriend wasn’t thrilled that she barely had time for him.
The #1 thing I keep prescribing my clients is: REST
When we rest, we have more energy to do the things we love.
When we rest, we gain more clarity, we’re more productive.
When we rest, we get to show up to what matters in life in a much better way.
Rest is the secret to entrepreneurial success.
So let this be your reminder to put down your phone, laptop, whatever it is that’s preventing you from resting, & take a little break. Even if it’s just for 10 minutes.
I’ll be laying down visualizing that I’m still resting on this palm tree in the Maldives ???
